IPhone Backup Extractor has received favourable coverage from a number of reviewers and technology journalists, including Joanna Stern of the Wall Street Journal who described it as “awesome”. The award described iPhone Backup Extractor’s technology as “unique in accessing and recovering content from Apple's iOS and iCloud systems”.

The product includes functionality to recover some types of data that were deleted prior to a backup being taken. It is also able to look up data and identifiers from iOS devices. IPhone Backup Extractor supports viewing and exporting data from a range of apps and data types, including SMS, iMessages, WhatsApp messages, call logs, photos and contacts.
